Volunteer at ARLGP
We are excited to connect with community members who are as dedicated and enthusiastic about animals as we are.
Currently, we have over 300 weekly volunteers who help us with a wide variety of services and programs, both inside and outside the shelter! We offer a variety of volunteering programs to fit the needs of our community members.
Shelter Helpers represent the core of ARLGP’s volunteers, and provide hands-on animal care and support, as well as assist with daily shelter operations. Rain, snow, or shine, our shelter helpers volunteer at least once a week in a variety of ways.
Weekly volunteers are required to be at least 13 years old (volunteers between 13 and 16 must volunteer with a parent/guardian), commit to a regular volunteer schedule for a minimum of six months, and have health insurance. All applicants are required to view an online orientation video and attend a Volunteer Planning Session as well as any necessary department training.
Fostering is a wonderful way to volunteer for the ARLGP, from the comfort of your home! Find out how you can become an ARLGP foster home.
Our new junior volunteer days offer youth the opportunity to experience shelter life hands-on with activities and projects that support every aspect of the facility, led by our shelter educators. Learn more.
The Community Service Program is designed for students who are required to perform a specific amount of volunteer hours in a short period of time. We are able to accommodate a limited number of Student Community Service volunteers at as the program allows. We currently do not offer Court Ordered Community Service. Group Volunteers from local businesses, organizations, and classrooms visit the ARLGP for project-based volunteering. Find out more about Group Volunteering.
