ADULT CLASSES

CONFIDENT CANINE

Confidence doesn’t come naturally to all of us, and this holds true with our dogs as well! This 6-week course is designed to help you better understand your dog, their worries in life, and how to build resilience and confidence as they navigate day to day life. We explore physical obstacles, greeting strangers with low pressure setups, and pattern games to create predictability.

Confident Canine is not a good fit for reactive dogs, if you are not sure if this class is a good fit for you and your dog feel free to reach out to us at training@arlgp.org with questions!

Sessions:

  • Mondays, November 17th- December 15th @ 5:45pm (NO CLASS Thanksgiving week)

Instructor: Amber Zawrotny, CPDT-KA

BEGINNER NOSEWORK

Have you ever been amazed at detection dogs, how they’re trained, and thought, “wow, my dog could never do that”? Well, all dogs at any level of scenting/tracking start with the wonderful concept of nosework!

The ARLGP is excited to offer a four-week course on Nosework; how to harness your dog’s incredible sense of smell into a fun game for both you and your pup. This class will teach the concept on how to start training your dog on detecting a smell, then advance to more randomized setups to proof your dog’s new skills.

This is a non-competitive class. We’re all about just having fun with your dog!

This class is not for highly reactive dogs, or dogs who have shown resource guarding tendencies. Dogs must have completed a foundations course through ARLGP or be evaluated by an ARLGP trainer. Unsure if this class is the right fit? Email us at training@arlgp.org!

Sessions:

  • Wednesdays, November 19th – December 17th @ 5:45pm (NO CLASS Thanksgiving week)

FAMILY DOG MANNERS- 2026 Sessions

Do you have a social dog who needs some manners? Maybe you’re thinking your pup would be a great candidate for therapy work, or want just a little less chaos when you bring them out and about? Family Dog Manners is designed to help with common problem areas like loose leash walking, manners around strangers, recall, and basic obedience. Dogs must be 9 months or older to take this class.

Our Family Dog Manners course is required as a prerequisite to prepare you and your canine companion for the Canine Good Citizen test, which is often a recommended step for public therapy dog work.

This class is not for highly reactive dogs or dogs who are uncomfortable around strangers. We recommend utilizing our complementary behavior helpline if you are unsure of where to start. If you have questions about if your dog would succeed in this class, email training@arlgp.org.

  • Tuesdays, January 6th- February 10th @ 5:45pm
  • Tuesdays, January 6th- February 10th @ 7pm
