We are saving more pets than ever before at the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland.

Annabelle came to us through a rescue partner in Georgia. Surprise – she was carrying puppies! She was placed in foster care and gave birth to ten beautiful babies on the Fourth of July, 2017.

All of the pups and mom stayed together in foster care for 8-10 weeks as they became ready for adoption. By the fall, all pups and Annabelle were in new, loving homes. So much love to go around!

Eleven dogs found loving homes, and these are animals that tragically would not have had a chance for a new life. Your compassion and your gift make it possible for us to provide for Annabelle, her whole brood, and thousands of other pets each year – providing food, safe shelter and medical attention.

Our new Arthur P. Girard Adoption Center is changing the face of sheltering in Maine.

In the new shelter’s first year, we cared for more than 5,300 pets, engaged more than 6,000 children in Humane Education classes and camps to learn compassion and kindness toward animals, and proudly gave tours and welcomed over 42,000 visitors.

If you haven’t made a visit to our new facility yet, come on by! See the lives that you are saving.

Make a gift today and make a difference to pets still waiting for a home.

Your gift of $25, $50, or $250 goes a long way in providing food, medical care, shelter and safety for one animal… or a whole litter of pups!
