manners
classes for dogs
Classes
are taught on leash at all times, with the exception
of off-leash play in Puppy Kindergarten. When
first learning a new behavior, a food lure is
used along with positive reinforcement. Focus
is on basic manners while addressing common behavior
problems such as chewing, polite on-leash greetings,
and barking. Exercises covered include: Watch,
Sit, Down, Stay, Walking on a loose leash and
Heeling, and Come

The
ARL, in partnership with Camp Bow Wow®, the
Town of Standish and Steep Falls Library, wish to
help families in need during these challenging economic
times by dispensing donated pet food items for families
in need, so that pets may stay in their homes.

Do you have
a cat or a pit bull that needs to be spayed or neutered
but can't afford the cost? The Animal Refuge League's
Low Income Spay & Neuter Program may be able
to help you and your pet.

helpers program
Through the
generosity of a local veterinarian, the ARL is able
to offer a new program, “Litter Helpers”,
to help stop animal overpopulation among cats and
dogs. If you surrender your cat’s or dog’s
litter to the ARL, we will spay and return the mom
to you at no charge.

We
understand that pets are beloved members of the
family and it is always difficult to say goodbye.
We know that many families are choosing cremation
as an option.
When the time comes, should you want to have your
pet's remains cremated, the ARL can help you with
those arrangements.
