You can make a difference in the lives of animals at the shelter, in your community and in the whole world! There are lots of things you can do to help animals, and home is a great place to start.

Consider a Pet
There are many things to think about before getting a pet. Does your family have time for a pet? What kind of pet is best? For more questions to ask check out the ARL's "A Kids' Guide to Helping Animals". If you decide now is the right time for a pet, make sure to adopt from a shelter like the Animal Refuge League.

Help Animals
There are many ways to help animals in your community and at the ARL, too. One thing you can do is hold a donation drive; which means you collect supplies for the animals at the shelter from people that you know. To find out how to get started and see what kind of items we need, download our "A Kids' Guide to Helping Animals". To download flyers for your drive click here. You can give the flyers to the people that you are asking to donate. How about some pictures for decorating collection boxes or posters? Click here.

Make Toys
Animals love to play just like people do. Make some toys for the kitties at the ARL (or your own kitty!)

You will need...
Pipe cleaners
Jingle bells*
Unfinished wooden beads*
Directions: String beads and/or jingle bells on to pipe cleaner. Twist and turn the pipe cleaner, making crazy shapes!

*Use extra large sized beads & bells so kitty won't choke if they come off!

For more toys to make and many more ideas for helping animals, check out our "A Kids' Guide to Helping Animals".

Help Scout Find His Way Home
Scout's a lovable pooch who went one day out for a walk with his owner and got lost along the way. Follow - and color - Scout as he meets other animals at the Animal Refuge League and hopes to find his way home. Click here to help Scout.
