Shelby traveled here from down South in
search of a loving home. Upon arrival, she tested positive for Heartworm
disease. Canismajor.com describes
the disease as, Heartworm infestation is dangerous; untreated dogs die
and treated dogs go through weeks of discomfort while the worms are killed
and expelled from their bodies. Though most of Shelby’s past is
a mystery, the staff recommends a feline-free home. Also, due to her
condition, Shelby needs either a home with no dogs, or possibly, a calm
male dog. She has had one Heartworm treatment thus far and will receive
two more in the beginning of April. Then, once she receives the thumbs
up from our vet, she can be spayed. Shelby has a very pleasant temperament
and will make a wonderful addition to any family.
