Recession affects everyone, but cats are often the innocent victims. Families lose their homes and pets lose their families. This was the fate of Smokey, who, after living five years with her second family, was surrendered when they lost their home. Smokey had lived with an assortment of cats, dogs and children, but as a middle-aged and fastidious cat, she had suffered stress. Smokey is a gentle soul, purring and rubbing with each visitor. Her requirements are only a clean litter box and space to explore. Within moments of finding a home, she will be head butting and purring and chirping. Being older and with the FIV-positive stigma, Smokey faces a more challenging quest for her forever home.
